“Let love be sincere; hate what is evil, hold on to what is good. Love one another with mutual affection; anticipate one another in showing honor. Do not grow slack in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the holy ones, exercise hospitality.” (Romans 12:9-13)
We are each devoted to our Secular Franciscan Order through Fraternity, and also devoted to our immediate families. As we examine our own hearts we are able to see if we are being devoted to the people God has placed in our lives each day. Are we honoring others above ourselves? We have plenty of opportunities to show honor to others.
Each week we are engaging in all kinds of tasks, from planning meetings to working at our jobs. Sometimes they are stressful situations, and we are usually intent on getting the work done. Sometimes we neglect the common acts of courtesy and hospitality, of greeting people when they enter our office or the space we are at. A kind word and a smile sets people at ease. Simple acts of hospitality can help produce better relationships and enlarge our hearts as we greet Christ in each other.
‘Namaste’ = The Christ in me greets the Christ in you.
Always stay humble and kind.
