“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
The Apostle Matthew gave us the gospel reading of the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus gave us the Beatitudes. Pope Francis has said that the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12) offer a practical program for holiness, and we should return and read them often.
This past week, many religious leaders joined together with Pope Francis in Assisi, Italy to celebrate the 30th Anniversary for the World Day of Prayer for Peace established by St. John Paul II. It was inspiring to see so many come together in the name of peace and in making a renewed effort to be peacemakers.
